Greetings all graduates, followers of miyazaki, and thespians, it is now a new year and that means something very special for the people of the guild, both new and old. As we all know the class is offered to students every other year and that means that the next school year, in which a brand new set of students will be taking up the mantle and establishing themselves as writers, is close at hand. I still remember quite fondly how it felt going into class on that first day, unsure of myself and trying to figure out if being an author was what I wanted to be, and questioning myself and my own ability to write at every turn. It can be difficult as well as a great deal of stress and we all had to go through such trials and tribulations to get where we are now in life.
Writers Guild to many people I talk to doesn't seem like much, and they often ask me why I persist of talking about it or always wishing to give back, as it is their view that I should be done with Conrad Weiser altogether. However, it is my thought that we should all owe a great deal to the institutions and the educators within them, for without them we would not be where we are now; I wish to repay some of the debt I owe to my former school by giving back to the class I held so dear. This upcoming year will be the fifth anthology published by the CW Writer's Guild, and yet more importantly than that it shall be the tenth anniversary of it as a whole. I propose that we give this opportunity to ask the former members of the class to come back and mentor the next generation and better provide advice, if they can of course.
Lastly, at the end of the year after all of the written works have been compiled into the book we, the students who have left and even perhaps became teachers in turn, make a section at the end with one piece of current writing and a dedication to the class and the teacher who inspired us as much as he has. My mind has been near to burst with ideas and I am more than happy to share them, but in general I would like to know what everyone thinks of the idea and if it is at all possible.
Thank you Mr. Heffner.
